It's the weekend!

The storms have blown over and headed to the east coast - leaving me to get some much needed sleep last night. I even woke up feeling better this morning than I had in a while. That gave me the drive to get around this morning and get some cleaning and straightening done. In the midst it dawned on me that today is food co-op day! Now I'm almost ready to head out and pick up this month's haul. My freezer is so full I'm honestly thinking of skipping next month.

I watched Survivor on the internet because I forgot about it Thursday night - I'm really getting bored with the format. They try new elements to change it up, but at its core it is a bunch of people sitting around bitching. I do that all day - I don't need to see it on television. LOL! Last night I caught up on Nip/Tuck. I love that show, but I think it's another show that's probably going to end soon. Tomorrow night is my favorite show of all time - The Amazing Race.

Hope you have a good weekend. I'm off to get mine started.....

Mornings....

I do not enjoy the first hour or two of each morning. It's always a waiting game for the morning pills to kick in and let me start feeling a bit more like myself. The rainy weather here - thunderstorms last night - has made the arthritis go crazy and I've woken up feeling like I'd gone ten rounds with a prize fighter. So this morning I'm taking it easy, re-reading last night's newspaper and sipping on a large mug of hot chocolate. Later I'll think about a couple errands, but honestly, if they don't get done today they'll be on the list for tomorrow.

Frog of the Day

Webkinz - Spotted Frog

I hope some of it makes its way into the regular Ghost Hunters series that will be starting up soon. I still say that I like Paranormal State a bit better because they actually go into a place to solve problems just not to say yep or nope about whether a ghost is present. I spend way too much time watching television.....

This frog collectible is another of the Webkinz. This is called Spotted Frog. Yes, when I saw how cute the first one was I went ahead and bought the remainder of the frogs they carry - 9 in all. What is great about these plush is that they are so well priced. I caught an on-line sale going on and bought a number of them for under eight dollars. The regular price runs from twelve to twenty dollars. The other thing I like is that if you don't use the codes on the internet, they actually will increase in value once the item is retired. Some of the original Webkinz that have retired are selling for over five hundred. Even the more recent retired items quickly shoot over fifty dollars once they become scarce. And they are indeed cute - so whether they are ever sold or not - I thoroughly enjoy them. And that's is indeed the point of collecting - enjoyment. I bought this frog February 2009.

And it's only Tuesday....

Yesterday moved along quickly. Before I knew it I was falling asleep during the Colbert show. A little before 11 I shuffled off to bed and was asleep before my head hit the pillow. I couldn't believe how rested I was when I woke up - ready to face a new day. Problem - it was not quite midnight. The rest of the night was tossing and turning. Trips to the bathroom just because I was tired of tossing and turning. So when 7 finally came around this morning I was exhuasted. Two slices of toast for breakfast and I decided, believe it or not, to back to bed! The phone ringing at 10 woke me up and so I am way late for everything today. I need to run out and do a few errands this afternoon. Guess I should get this day started........

Frog of the Day

Yesterday was a nice day off - I did my usual Sunday morning routine of a big breakfast, Sunday political talk shows, and the newspaper. Today it's back to the rat race. I've already been out this morning doing a little shopping. I wanted some fresh fruit and vegetables rather than canned for a change. I got a small watermelon and some fixings for a nice salad. That will go a long ways towards lunches this week. Dinner is pretty well fixed too because last night a did a big pan of pork chops with sauerkraut. Needless to say I was quite the trumpeter last night......

This frog item is from Recylced Paper Greetings and is a Frog Valentine's Day Card. The frog on the front is a magnet that can be removed and used wherever. The inside reads "Have a Toad-ally Awesome Valentine's Day!" I recieved this for Valentine's Day 2009.

I'm so annoyed!

I woke up this morning to find about an inch of snow on the ground and it is snowing like there's no tomorrow. The weatherman says there should be about 2 inches total before it's all said and done. Yuck! And it put a damper on the plans for the day. I wanted to go to a craft show over in the next town, then stop by the bakery outlet on the way home to pick up some bread, bagels, and such - breakfast items. It will have to wait for another day. Yesterday I made it out to run a couple errands and I have to say that I love drive throughs. We need more of them. I did my banking and then went around to the pharmacy which put in a new drive through recently. Now if the supermarket could come up one that works I'd be in heaven! LOL I couldn't believe when I walked into the supermarket. On the left hand side were 6 shopping carts full of Valentine's candy on sale. On the right hand side was a huge display of Easter candy. I made it past all excpet those peanut butter cups in the shape of eggs - those are just too good. Well, on to today......

That and a nice big stack of pancakes and I'm feeling more like my old self. I have to run out this afternoon to do a couple errands - mostly I want to use my CVS extra care bucks before they run out. On to today's frog......

This frog collectible is from Ganz and is part of their Webkinz line. This frog is called Tie Dye Frog and various shades of green. I love the Ganz plush, they are so soft. As with all the Webkinz, this comes with a code which you can use on their website. A cute addition to the collection. I purchased this February 2009.

Frog of the Day

Another drizzly day, but by the end of the day it's supposed to turn to snow. Ugh! I thought we were done with that stuff. Hopefully it won't be anything much. I'm not set up for another two weeks of being housebound. I put out the trash last night and my plumber came walking down the street and so we had a nice chat. I should have asked him to come in and look at the drip in my sink. The wind here is starting to howl so I better hurry and get this posted before the electricity starts fritzing on and off.

This frog collectible is a cute addition to the collection. It is from Allen Designs and is a Froggy Hand Mirror. It is a very heavy piece - it is made out of ceramic. It stand 11 1/2 inches high and is 6 inches wide - quite large indeed. The side pictured is a frog holding a pot of flowers - the entire backside of the body is a mirror. It has a nice base on which it stands upright. A very nice piece overall. I received this for Christmas 2008.

A Rainy Day in Tidy Town

Mostly a slow drizzle, but it's supposed to last all day. The temps have taken a nose dive too - I didn't want to crawl out from under the covers this morning. I forgot yesterday was a holiday and kept wondering why there was no mail. Good thing I didn't take off the bank. I rewatched the Amazing Race start last night (Stewart and Colbert are repeats this whole week) and I'm picking out my favorite teams. I was happy they kicked off the fighting couple the first week.

I ran to the store on Sunday and forgot to buy spaghetti sauce and I don't have any tomato sauce to make my own, so later today I'm going to try my hand at a white sauce. Either that or I'm headed back to the grocery store. I really need to do a very thorough shopping - the cupboards are getting bare!

I guess I have to go and do some care on a couple virtual pets. I hope to be back tomorrow with a new Frog of the Day - I've got about a dozen here ready for their debut. Remember you can send me a picture of your favorite frog and I'll put it up as the Guest Frog of the Day - I want to see what frogs you are collecting. I'm also interested in seeing frog collectibles from around the world - if you're reading this blog from outside the United States I'd like to see and hear about your frog collecting opportunities.

Thankfully the light bulb went off and here I am. So on to today's frog.......

This frog item is a plush which I received for Valentine's Day. It is from CVS and is called Kissing Frog. A cute little addition to the collection.

I've already given them all a bath this morning and done all the daily little things that need to be done. I'm exhausted - time for breakfast........

This frog collectible is from Ganz and is part of their very popular Webkinz line. This plush is called Love Frog and is a limited edition piece. Each Webkinz comes with a code so that you can take care of them in a virtual setting. I bought this frog this month.

Connected Again

Wednesday, shortly after I posted the Frog of the Day, the winds picked up here to a howling 50 to 60 miles per hour. I was surprised that the electric held on as well as it did. There were moments of flickering, but the power never went off completely. My cable connection, and thus my computer access to the web connection, went down pretty quickly. You realize just how out of touch you are with what's going on in the world, especially when you have one of the news channels running almost constantly. I actually had quiet time to just sit, relax, and do a little reading. Then I had time to wander around the house wondering what the hell I could do because the television and computer weren't an option. I went out to dinner last night because the quiet was slowly driving me mad.......LOL. Things finally came back on late last night and today things are back to normal. Now I'm thinking I'd like a little quiet..........

Frog of the Day

Frog Trinket Box

Blogger and Flickr are having major problems so today's entry is in a little different format, but thankfully I was able to get a post up today - yesterday was a total no go.

If you've seen the news you know here in the mid-west the weather has been crazy. I kept my weather radio close by all day yesterday and last night. It's very dark and dreary today and it's supposed to rain on and off most of today. This weather has wreaked havoc with my joints that are all letting me know about the rain. The worst seems to have passed and they're starting to calm down a bit this morning. Arthritis is a royal pain - literally.

I made blueberry muffins yesterday afternoon. I love my KitchenAid mixer - it does all the work! Breakfast will be easy for the next couple of days - I just grabbed a muffin and a glass of water. Today is going to be a day of leftovers. I've got a refrigerator shelf full of little bits of this and that. I've got a bunch of errands to run today, so I best get to it.....

This frog collectible is a trinket box. It has a Made in China sticker on the bottom. This cute frog is full of little crystals - on his toes, his eyes, and the edge of the umbrella. The inside is magnetic. This piece is quite heavy for only 2 1/2 inches high. I received this frog for Christmas 2008.

This frog collectible is called Jumping Frog Figure. The finish on this piece is very reminiscent of what you would find on Kitty's Critters. It is a large piece and quite heavy. A very beautiful addition to the collection. I received this for Christmas 2008.

Actually I've been coughing and a little sniffly - wouldn't it be just my luck that when I can finally get out of the house I come down with a cold. What's that song from Hee Haw - it it weren't for bad luck, I'd have no luck at all.......

This frog item has taken a prominent position here on my desk. It is a ceramic trinket box with a Made in China sticker on the bottom. I cannot find any other identifying marks on it. The inside contains a little red heart. I said this frog takes a place of prominence not only because I collect frog, but because my nickname among my friends is "The Pope." So this was just too cool to have a little frog pope. He'll take a coveted place on my desk. Too cute!

TGIF

Last night I decided to make a chocolate cake with peanut butter icing. I should take a lesson from mom and realize that you need to do these things early in the morning when your mind is fresh. I'm sure when I find the piece of egg shell in the cake underneath the burnt peanut butter icing I'll feel better about eating the rest of it.

This morning the temps started out in the low 30's but we're supposed to hit near 50's today. Hopefully the last of the snow will finally disappear and my house confinement will be over. I just got up - very late so I'm off to get this day started. I might be back later, otherwise we'll see you tomorrow.......

Frog of the Day

I was up early this morning and made some corn muffins for breakfast - Yummy! It's amazing what you find when you're cleaning cupboards. With dinner tonight I'm going to make some rice - I wonder which of the three open bags I'll use.....good gravy, as my grandmother would say. Another couple days being snowed in and I'm afraid I'll have nothing left to clean or straighten up. It's a good thing the weather is on a warming trend - a whopping 38 degrees today. I'm looking forward to those 50's and 60's over the weekend. I don't know where to go first but I guarantee you that once the last of the snow melts I'll be out and about - somewhere......

This frog item is a key chain. There is a light in it's mouth and when you press the button on the back of the frog the light comes on and it makes a croaking sound. Cute. There is the name of Kikkerland on the bottom and a quick google search does show quite a web site for this company. They also make a frog anatomy puzzle - anything to stop dissections.

Talk About Bad Days

I thought I was having a bad day when I saw a news item from Bangkok entitled "Hippo Eats Dwarf." It seems a circus dwarf nicknamed Od bounced sideways on a trampoline and landed in the yawning mouth of a hippo who was standing nearby and was to be part of the next act. The hippo's gag reflex caused him to swallow, thus eating poor Mr. Od. Worse yet is that the audience was clapping wildly thinking it part of the act - until it was realized as a tragedy.

Suddenly I feel better!

Revelations

I had quite the revelation yesterday - my wheeled walker will not go through snow. Not at all. It took me over half an hour yesterday in near zero weather to get my trash to the curb. Needless to say, today I'm sore from head to toe. I finally made it out of bed - two hours later than normal. Today is going to be a slow day with sore muscles. Thankfully by Saturday most of this snow and ice will be gone. Things are supposed to start warming up tomorrow.

I've been going through my pantry, cupboards, refrigerator and freezer to clean things out, check dates, and make a good and thorough grocery list. I found a box of instant pudding mix in the back of one of the cupboards which was great - it was vanilla, but still good and ready in five minutes! Tomorrow I'm going to get out my recipes for hamburger buns and try making them from scratch. I've got some great steak burgers but no rolls. I found my recipe for Cuban bread yesterday while rummaging around and today I might get out the bread maker and make a loaf of it - it's really good. We'll have to see how I feel later today first.

Ever since I was a little kid I loved sitting in my grandparents' rocking chairs. I've wanted one for myself for about as long as I can remember. Yesterday I received an e-mail from one of the companies that I order from and their $1,000 rocker is on sale for $150. I don't think I'll ever get a better deal so I'm giving it serious consideration. The bad economy and poor Christmas season shopping may be to my benefit in this instance.

Time to get moving around the house a bit and get the joints limbered up a bit if possible - so on to today. The frogs I have to put up here are starting to pile up here next to me. I received 4 new ones yesterday. Thanks to everyone who sends them along. Remember, you can also e-mail me pictures of your favorite frog collectible - tell me about your collection and you can become the Guest Frog of the Day.

Last week at this time everything was at a standstill because of a foot of snow - so everything is piling up. On to today's frog.....

This frog collectible is from Ganz and is a Skin of Toad Jar - a Halloween decoration. It is made of ceramic and has a cork stopper. I received this item for Christmas 2008.

Happy GroundFrog's Day

I'm actually late - GroundFrog's Day was January 31st. Snohomish Slew wanted to get a jump on that Phil character. If you're not familiar - I encourage you to google Snohomish Slew and learn the legend and lore of this fantastic frog and his adventures across the country to find the perfect place to call home. I think next year I should make a pilgrimage to his namesake - Snohomish, Washington to check out all the festivities for the day. I want to see the frognosticator in action - and get my 8 weeks of good luck for rubbing his belly!

The snow here in Tidy Town is melting slowly. Today the temps are supposed to be about 40 - tomorrow will be another cold day but then we're definitely going to warm up - several days this week are supposed to be in the 60's. Finally I'll be able to get out and do some grocery shopping - I'm down to my last packet of hot chocolate and half my pantry is empty.

So what did you think of the superbowl last night? Pretty exciting right down the last minute I thought. And of course some great and funny commercials. I decided to order a pizza from Pizza Hut and got an order of their chocolate dunkers - they're delicious! I ordered the 5 pack because I didn't know if I'd like them - this morning I'm wishing I had ordered the 10 pack! LOL

On to today........ There will be a new Frog of the Day tomorrow!
